Privacy Policy
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Spyd (the "App") handles information when you use the App on iPhone.
Spyd is designed to process your activity data on-device. We do not require an account and we do not sell your data.
2. Information We Collect
When you use Spyd, the App may process:
- Location data (including precise location): Used to calculate live speed, distance, elevation, route points, and journey summaries.
- App settings: Such as appearance (light/dark/system), speed unit, and elevation unit.
- Journey history and performance stats: Including saved sessions, max speed, average speed, duration, and route points.
The App requests location permission for both in-use and background tracking so sessions can continue while the app is not in the foreground.
3. How Information Is Used
- Provide core speed and trip-tracking functionality.
- Display your saved journey history and route map.
- Remember your app preferences and units.
4. Storage and Retention
Spyd stores data locally on your device (for example, in iOS local app storage).
Data remains on your device until you remove it in the App (for example, "Clear History") or uninstall the App.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
Spyd does not share your personal data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or analytics services.
Spyd does not use third-party ad SDKs and does not perform cross-app tracking.
Apple may independently collect certain diagnostics/usage information under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Your Choices
- You can deny or revoke Location permission anytime in iOS Settings.
- You can clear saved journey history inside the App.
- You can uninstall the App to remove its local data from your device.
7. Informational Use Only
Spyd is provided for informational and personal reference use, such as checking how fast you are traveling or seeing approximate speed during situations like an airplane takeoff.
Spyd is not intended for legal, compliance, navigation, or safety-critical speed checks. It is not a replacement for a vehicle's built-in speedometer or other certified instruments.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If updated, we will revise the Effective date above.
